The initial response for 2012 Maver Mega "Match This" tickets has been very encouraging with tickets selling immediately after going on sale via the Official Maver "Match This" website. This year's campaign begins on Saturday 7th April at Woodlands View, Droitwich and concludes with the 2012 "Match This" final at Maver Larford Lakes on Saturday 1st September. Tickets are available on-line now via the Official  Maver Match This website. Alternatively, you can book over the phone on 01527 406 300.

Phil Briscoe, Maver (UK) Managing Director, will, again, guarantee the winner of this year's event a minimum of £50,000. In addition to this however, Phil has announced that, providing ticket sales for this year's event allow, the competition will also aim to pay out second and third placed anglers meaning the competition for this year will no longer be a winner takes all event. It is our intention to pay 2nd place £5,000 and 3rd place £3,000 on the day (subject to change).

Ed "The Turk" Hurkardes' latest 3-day session produced yet more great results for the young Maver consultant.
Fishing Cemex Blue Pool, Ed had a total of four runs for four fish, the best of which weighed in at 34lbs 8oz (photographed).
Ed was using his trusty MV1 size 6 hook with 15lb Maver Jurassic mainline.

Hunting an individual fish, particularly on a venue such as the Essex Manor, is tough. Spencer had managed to successfully target the "Church Common" at the beginning of the year. Since then, he has moved on in search of the "Northern Linear", which if timed right, could be an English 50.

This month sees Derek "The Don" Ritchie Interviewed by On-Line Fishing TV's Ian Russell. Together, they look back on a life of carp fishing, with particular emphasis on the Waveney Valley Lakes and Essex Manor era.

In last month's Big Carp Magazine, Maver carp consultant Spencer Humble describes the highs and lows experienced when tackling a hard water and the dedication it takes to achieve that dream end result.
This is far from one of the usual "I came, I caught, I left" stories that you read about so often these days; rather it is a tale of a carp angler's struggle and frustration ending with a heart-stopping battle with a true monster set in a stunning environment surrounded by everything the carp angler dreams of.

Derek "The Don" Ritchie attended this years Maver Mega "Match This" event at Larford Lakes on Saturday 20th August and demonstrated to carp enthusiasts, both new comers to the sport and seasoned veterans, some tricks of the trade.
A popular character within the carp fishing fraternity, Derek helped spectators on the day to catch carp in excess of 16lbs from the Arena lake and made a lot of carp angler's day with his usual sense of humour and notorious antics.
The day was a huge success with the Carp Clinic planned to feature as part of next years event.

Carp are quite gregarious, social creatures, and often shoal up together, but on many waters the larger fish tend to be solitary creatures. For this reason it is always worth exploring the deepest, seediest, most overgrown areas of a lake, where a big carp might just think it's hidden away safely.
Many anglers agree that the largest fish are found in the most ignored areas of a lake. These areas are usually extremely cramped and very difficult to get to.
However, these swims can be very profitable, as they are so often overlooked as Maver carp expert Ed "The Turk" demonstrates during a recent session stalking for large carp.

The 7th of May saw Ben Lofting and fellow carp angler Matt Chandler head off for a weeks fishing in the Champagne region of France.
Before the two of them left, the owner of the lake had been in touch to say the fish were about to spawn any day and to expect the fishing to be tough going. However, this proved not to be case!

In this month's Big Carp Magazine, Maver carp expert Ed "The Turk" reminisces about a memorable carp fishing outting at Cleverley Fisheries managed by fellow Maver carp consultant, Ben Lofting.
The session concluded with a new lake record and PB for Ed at 47lbs 14oz!

Maver's Ben Lofting has recently taken a huge mirror carp from a syndicate water that he has only recently just joined.
The fish was caught on a Mainline Cell boilie used in conjunction with a Maver MV1 size 8 hook.
A cracking start on a brand new water!

Back in May of this year, Maver carp expert Ben Lofting fished over a long weekend at Yateley Sandhurst in Hampshire.
Armed with his trusty Cell boilies and Maver MV1 hooks, Ben captured eleven fish including seven "twenties", and a lovely 30lb 4oz mirror (pictured).
Ben commented "it was a great test for the new Apocalypse rods, which have so far impressed me enormously".

Maver carp ace Spencer Humble continues his fantastic run of form with a spate of big fish.
last year, Spencer managed just nine fish all season, but this season has already landed fours 20's, two 30's and this latest specimen at 42lbs 8oz.
Spencer's latest catch has been in the specimen hunter's sights for over two years and is regarded as one of the most elusive fish in the country being caught on average just once a year.

It might be regarded as old fashioned by many carp enthusiasts, but using paste is a modern edge that catches loads of carp.
